How Forestwood Added 9,440 m² of Weather-Protected Timber Storage

CASE STUDY FINEST-HALL FACTORY OÜ WWW.PVC-HALL.EE Forestwood Agencies LTD

In early April 2024, Forestwood Agencies Ltd approached Finest-Hall with an urgent requirement to protect imported timber stock before the upcoming autumn rain season. Operating in one of the wettest regions of the UK, Forestwood stored a large portion of imported timber outdoors, exposing stock to rain, moisture, and strong winds.
Key issues:
Water damage and packaging deterioration
Declining material quality before delivery
Increasing customer complaints and warranty claims
Financial losses and risk to client relationships
Without adequate covered storage, the company lacked a reliable way to protect high-value timber between arrival and dispatch.
ABOUT FORESTWOOD
Forestwood Agencies Ltd is a timber import and distribution company supplying Northern Ireland and the wider UK market. Their central warehouse facility is located in Newry, Northern Ireland, where operations include intermediate stock storage and pressure treatment of imported timber.

HOW THEY FOUND US
Forestwood regularly imports timber from Estonia and Finland, and had seen Finest-Hall’s structures in operational use at supplier facilities across the Baltic region. When the need arose to expand covered storage quickly, they already knew the product — reaching out was a straightforward decision.
WHY THEY CHOSE US
Forestwood has traded with Estonian businesses since the early 1990s and has long-standing confidence in Estonian manufacturing quality and business culture. Combined with a more competitive price and larger clear-span capacity than local suppliers could offer, the choice was clear.

Forestwood required ~10,000 m² of covered storage operational before the September rain season, with a minimum 5 m internal clear height for multi-level pallet storage.
Finest-Hall delivered:
2 clear-span PVC halls
Hall 1: 40 × 124 m (4,960 m²)
Hall 2: 40 × 112 m (4,480 m²)
Total covered area: 9,440 m²
Installed within existing site footprint
Completed and handed over ahead of schedule in July
The project added 9,440 m² of new covered storage capacity to Forestwood’s existing 4,000 m² facility — more than tripling their available covered storage before the start of peak rainfall season.

Project delivered on time and within budget
Higher specification achieved compared to local alternatives — at lower cost
Installation quality and delivery speed exceeded client expectations
Shortly after completion, the halls were tested by an extreme storm with wind gusts up to 70 m/s, significantly above the regional design requirement of 32 m/s. Both structures remained fully operational, with only minor surface damage and no interruption to site operations.
OUTCOME
Business impact:
Timber stock fully protected from weather exposure
Customer complaints eliminated
Reliable, long-term storage infrastructure established
